Thaiboxing ( Muay Thai )

Muay Thai (Thai boxing) has emerged from most traditional martial arts. When sword and lance turned out to be unusable, the Thai warriors used their legs, fists, and elbows as weapons. At Hauptstadt Gym, the work-out focuses on the modern elements in competitive sports. Fast acting fists, explosive kicks and sturdy knees are just as important to us as the Muay Thai clinch, elbow punches and the traditional respect for your training partners, opponent, and the sport itself are.


Thai boxing training is a full-fledged work-out. In each and every second of the training session and beyond, it challenges your body and mind and trains your fitness as well as your abilities to concentrate and coordinate! Hauptstadt Gym is open for you to exercise at six days a week. 3 times a week, you can start exercising here already at 08:00 AM! There is no better way to start your day. In the course of our Open Gym on Saturdays from 10:45 to 12:15, you can train your kicking and pushing at our sandbags or do some mitt drill work with your training partner. Whether you exercise in our beginners’ class or among the advanced or champion athletes, kindness, mutual respect and treating each other as partners is the base for all work-out at Hauptstadt Gym.

Crossfit is not your type of thing? You find bodybuilding and common fitness training too drab? You want variety on your way to an athletic and healthy body? The solution is Athletic Performance by Hauptstadt Gym! Whether you are male or female, 18 or 66 - our Athletic Performance class offers you the option to improve all aspects of your fitness. With the Athletic Performance program, we have elaborated a training concept that addresses and improves all aspects of our physical fitness! Mobility - stability - power. Drab, frustrating and dreary training at the gym? No! Go instead for a highly intense work-out that you need all your muscles for.

 

The training we offer spares fitness machines and isolated movements! We use our body as effective training equipment. Kettlebells, battle ropes and Bulgarian bags complete the training and facilitate more power, a better posture and natural muscles. Experience our highly intense Athletic Performance program in a group. Training with others, you will have even more fun. Moreover, our small groups of maximum 10 individuals ensure extra motivation. This training makes calories burn automatically. No matter if you are a professional or an amateur athlete. Let our Athletic Performance training take you and your physical performance to the next level!

Personal Training

Running at the crack of dawn, a brief but intense work-out in your lunch break, or Thai boxing without bruises on the weekend? No problem! Personal training means individual coaching  adapted to your very own needs. All training and work-out will be customized for you. We attend and coach you at all times and help you with words and deeds on the way to your goals. Mutually, we will set up a training and diet plan adapted to your physical condition and sportive objectives to ensure it will neither be too easy nor too hard for you.

 

With our personal training, we offer you some exclusive and professional services to cover the topics of diet and nutrition, functional Thai boxing training and Athletic Performance. We take you all the way to your personal goal - no matter if you are already well-trained or have never done a work-out in your life so far.

Boxing pad training

Training like in Thailand. Warm-up, shadow boxing and working with boxing pads are on the program on these days. Through working with the boxing pads, you improve your endurance, technique and strength. Punches, kicks - elbows and knees - round for round.

Technique training

Learn - and improve. This is what the technique courses are about. Of course, these courses also include plenty of press-ups and situps to improve one's physique. However, the focus is on learning and improving punches, kicks, combinations and the Muay Thai Clinch.

Sparring / tactics

Practice is better than studying. In this course, you can test your skills during sparring. Novices practice blocking, guarding against and dodging punches and kicks. Learning feints and little tricks is of course also included.

 

Our motto for sparring is: WITH EACH OTHER, NOT AGAINST EACH OTHER. Those who wish to just fight senselessly have definitely not come to the right place.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Hauptstadt Gym

How many years old may I be maximum if I plan to start learning Thai boxing?

In our experience, you’re never too old to start with Thai boxing. At Hauptstadt Gym, we welcome everyone who wants to work-out hard in an informal team.

Will I need any protective gear?

For your test training, you won’t need any protective equipment. However, if you decide to really get started with Thai boxing, we recommend you get this equipment:

 

• Boxing gloves (14 OZ)    • handwraps    • Shin pads    • Mouth protector    • Jock strap

 

Some of these things can be bought right here at Hauptstadt Gym. However, please don’t hesitate to ask us about other products and/or suppliers.

Is it possible to build up muscles through Thai boxing and/or to combine weight training and Thai boxing?

Well, first of all you should clearly decide what will be your priority. If your plan is to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, you won’t be able to get there by training Muay Thai.

But if your goal is an athletic and powerful body, you can well achieve it by combining weight training, martial arts and an appropriate diet.

Experience has shown that 1 to 2 extra weight training units in combination with martial arts are perfect to build up healthy muscles. The ideal solution in this context is our Athletic Performance program.

What is functional training?

This question cannot be answered through one simple definition. 
In your everyday life, when you are walking or jumping, but also when you are playing soccer or doing Thai boxing, various muscles have to interact to transmit power from one part of your body to another.

For us at Hauptstadt Gym, functional training thus means strengthening the body through complex exercises. At the same time, our natural movement patterns are being improved.

Will the Athletic Performance program help me to lose weight?

Generally, YES. However, this has a lot to do with your diet and your willingness to change things. Our coaches will give you the support that you need to achieve your goal!
